    2011/08/18

Filmlab Aarhus 2.0 is so ready to go!

Among others, the famous villain from ‘Bladerunner’, Rutger Hauer, will attend the festival and show his version of an Aarhus Story 2011.

Rutger Hauer’s film is produced specifically for a part of Filmlab Aarhus we call Aarhus Stories 2011, where musicians meets film directors, and together reinterpret the short film. The film, titelt ‘Requiem 2019′, tells the story of the last surviving whale in the oceans and the encounter with its greatest enemy, mankind, played by Rutger Hauer. Co-director is the very sought after music video director Sil van der Woerd, who will attend the premiere as well. The musical contribution is the Dutch Lolly Jane Blue.

    Aarhus Stories 2011

    2011/06/13

For the third year in a row established film directors team up with famous musicians to make a film, an Aarhus Story, which will be recorded in 24 hours in Aarhus. The following four teams have now accepted the challenge and will give their own personal and interesting take on a 2011 Aarhus Story.

Rutger Hauer, Sil van der Woerd and Lolly Jane Blue
Since his legendary performance as Roy Batty in Ridley Scott’s ’Bladerunner’, Dutch born actor Rutger Hauer has participated in a wide number of Hollywood productions such as ‘The Hitcher’ and ‘Sin City’. Soon he will be starring in the major production Dracula 3D, but only after he has made his own Aarhus Story to the music of Dutch singer Lolly Jane Blue.

    Frederikke Aspöck and Lambchop
Danish director Frederikke Aspöck’s first feature film, ’Out of Bounds’, has been very well received at her debut at this year’s Cannes International Film Festival. On the other hand, Lambchop, headed by Kurt Wagner, has long since established themselves as one of the true greats of country rock.

    Margaret Brown and Under byen
American director Margaret Brown is behind a new Sundance Film Festival supported documentary on BP’s catastrophic oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. She herself asked for the musical score to be provided by critically acclaimed Danish band Under byen, whom even though they were officially on hiatus just couldn’t say no.

    Jonas Elmer and John Parish
With its improvised plot and dialogue Jonas Elmer’s debut film, ‘Let’s get lost’, set a fashion for local filmmakers, and it soon led him to Hollywood, where he made the film ‘New in Town’ starring Renée Zellweger. For his Aarhus Story the musical inspiration will be given by none other than, John Parish, long time producer for P.J. Harvey, with whom he released the album ‘A Woman a Man Walked By’ in 2009.

The four Aarhus Stories will all be shot in Aarhus during the summer, and the finished films will premiere at Filmlab Aarhus, which will take place from the 29th – 31th of August as a part of Aarhus Festival.
